2017 In Review

It really is such a shame that it takes me so long to update our family blog!! But I guess it forces brevity, which I need help with sometimes. :)

Here are some highlights from last year, and where we're at now:
  • Got honeybees (Carnolians) in May
  • Got 2 Nigerian dwarf baby goats
  • Plannted an orchard with 2 apple, 2 peach, 2 cherries, a pear and crabapple tree
  • Had a hay day with the Duchesne Farmers market in the fall- brining produce, baked goods, and caramel apples- every week in September and October
  • Harvested corn, carrots, onions, strawberries, cucumber, armenian cucmbers, lots of zucchini of course, and even a few watermelon and cantaloupe
  • Harvest 2 quarts of honey from our bees, but are mostly just glad they're still alive! Preparing them for the best winter possible.
  • End of September tried Plexus for the first time for my fatigue and was astonished at the results. Launched my home business Oct. 9th
  • Dressed up as the Queen bee and Alida as a worker bee for Halloween- Buddy was a grumpy dinosaur
  • Buddy is grumpy all the time. The terrible twos are in full swing. Alida gets cuter every day, and is always happy.
  • We hope Alida will walk at 10 months like her brother so we don't have to carry her everywhere in November for our travels, but she decides she's not in a hurry. She walks first time after Christmas at Grandma's house on her birthday, 1 year old.
  • Go visit David and Whitney to see new baby Wila in NC beginning of Nov. with two toddlers alone on a plane.
  • Go with Michael and kids to Houston for Thanksgiving- see Kyle get married, visit with Spencer and Kathy, have a great time- great weather, Bluebell ice cream factory, visit with friends in the Woodlands (Chris Edrington and wife), visit old home in Chateau woods
  • Decide to make a bid on a bigger home in Roosevelt in October after figuring out it didn't make sense to add on to our home
  • Put our home up for sale and the first day it's listed we get an offer- lower than we hoped, but ok. $164. We sell by owner so not paying any realtor fees.
  • Purchase new home in Roosevelt for $280- they pay closing costs of nearly $10k. We save about $20k by doing sale by owner.
  • Pack up and move out Dec. 8th- take posession of our new home on Dec. 11th (monday)
  • Start getting weird hives that keep me up itching all night- diagnosed with hand foot mouth by clinic, Dr. Wells gives me a steriod that doesn't help, can't get in with allergist so finally see a dermatologist that gives me 8 anti-histamines to take for 6 weeks that knock it out. Also end up getting really sick, have to sleep on the recliner, crazy diahrreah, chronic cough that lasts for 8 weeks- go to over 8 doctor appointments to figure it out- put on inhailers, nasal steroids, singulair, diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, etc. Finally figure out it was detox.
  • Michael has to work Christmas, but the kids and I head down to Bicknell and spend a week there for Christmas
  • Go on anniversary trip to Duck Creek cabin and southern Utah while kids stay with Grandma and Grandpa
  • Go on a cruise end of January with Amanda- despite the cough and having to sleep in the foyer to sit up, have a great time at Catalina Island, Ensenada Mexico, and eating good food. Go to a seminar on detox that confirms everything I'd learned.
  • After cruise, didn't gain any weight but started losing weight and inches. Period starts regulating to 28 days and only 3 days of bleeding and light cramps, ovulating on day 14. Miracles
  • Grandma Kay passes away Feb. 3rd, within 13 months of Grandpa Kay (passed away last December)
  • Nick Peterson (ALS) and Rebecca Dutson pass away (lukemia)
  • Aunt Heather passes away unexpectedly in Ogden. Michael's Uncle Rollo and cousin Kelsie also passed away last year, along with his Grandpa Bliss in September. 10 funerals between the 2 of us in the last 2 years.
  • After all the traveling and moving and trips, finally get home and try to settle into our new life.
  • Making about $500/month with Plexus and have a call with Brooke Hemmingway. Decide to have a conversation with my stakeholders about really being intentional about Plexus to provide some financial freedom for our family. Ask the Lord about it and he says as long as I can stay focused on helping people and not money, and not get distracted from the most important things, I can proceed. Decide to really invest in the Plexus business.
  • Michael and I decide to move forward with me working the business full-throttle and see where we get in 2 years.
  • Now it's middle of Feb, and all the traveling, moving, and sickness is FINALLY settling down and we're looking forward to some routine.
  • About to purchase a new diesel truck for Michael so we have a reliable towing vehicle and so he can feel like a real man ;)
  • Hoping to get pregnant with a third soon, now that Alida is almost 14 months so they'll be 2+ years apart
Finally settling into our new home and ward. I've been called as a Gospel Doctrine teacher and I know now that we're supposed to be here. Have an amazing babysitter that is our next door neighbor (Camrie Snow) so we can go on dates and even to the temple more often (amazing.). Love living 5 minutes from the hospital, especially with all the doctor appointments I've had. Looking forward to that for the next baby as well. Oh, our bishop is Dr. Syndergaard and I visiting teach Dr. Nolte's wife, Cathy, whom I love dearly.

Overall, life is wonderful. We feel so blessed. I love and appreciate Michael more and more each year. He is such a wonderful and compassionate husband and patient and fun father. Our kids love him!!

We love our new beautiful home, with the beautiful landscaped property and water rites!! Excited to grow some pasture grass for horses, and re-start our chicken flock. Need to plan fruit trees again and figure out a sustainable water system- maybe a well.

Life is wonderful!!
